Friends of the Library to Hold Fall Book Sale in November

The Friends of the Public Library of Johnston County & Smithfield are pleased to announce their 2025 Fall Book Sale, taking place from Wednesday, November 12 through Saturday, November 15 at the public library at 305 East Market Street, Smithfield. This highly anticipated event offers readers of all ages the opportunity to find great books at great prices - all while supporting the library.
The sale will feature a wide selection of gently used books, including fiction, biographies, nonfiction, children's books, cookbooks, history, including some vintage books (1899 to 1960s). The sale will also include DVDs, CDs, and puzzles. All proceeds go directly to supporting the Public Library of Johnston County & Smithfield's programming, resources and materials, community outreach, and more.

We want to keep you informed about a recent development that is impacting libraries nationwide, including the Public Library of Johnston County & Smithfield. Baker & Taylor, which has been our primary book supplier for several years,
is unexpectedly going out of business.
To ensure continued access to the books you love and expect from us, we are actively working on securing alternative suppliers. During this transition, you may notice some delays in the arrival of new releases and requested titles.
